RSPB’s Big Schools’ Birdwatch & Shared Education
The children from Primary 3, along with their Shared Education friends from Academy PS in Saintfield had a wonderful morning taking part in the Big Schools’ Birdwatch. We were very lucky to have Karen Shiel from RSPB to lead us in the Birdwatch and to share her knowledge and expertise on taking care of birds and other wildlife in our locality. We are delighted to report that the birds around our school appear to be thriving.
The children learned that it is very important to feed birds during the winter months to help them survive. As well as putting feeders out around school, the children made bird feeders with pine cones and have taken them home to hang in their gardens.
A special thank you to our P6 and P7 Eco Councillors who did a fantastic job of helping the younger children to make their bird feeders.
