Primary 6 had a busy day at the Viking settlement. They were greeted at the gates by the Jarl and Jarlkona, along with their Viking soldiers and servants, who were fully equipped with swords, axes and shields! Once we pledged our allegiance, we were safely granted access to the Viking stronghold on the banks of the river Quoile. Pupils thoroughly enjoyed the carousel of activities which included bow and arrow training, weapon making, combat fitting of helmets, swords and shields, storytelling of Viking sagas and tapestry, cooking lunch for the Jarl over a hot stove and bread making. Finally P6 defeated the Viking soldiers with a very fierce battle and rested for lunch in the longhouses. As a reward for all their hard work they were treated to a McFlurry at McDonalds, just like all Viking warriors would have enjoyed!!
