Maths Week Ireland
The 14th Maths Week Ireland took place from 12th -20th October and the pupils and staff of Holy Family participated in a range of mathematical games, activities, challenges and lessons across the week. Leading the way was the Mathletics competition which again exceeded expectations with many pupils from P1-P7 achieving high scoring points, gold bars and a few more bronze and silver certificates to add to their success. Our Primary 7 class came Top of the leaderboard and reign champions for a second year in succession. Well done P7 and Mr Murphy!
Each class was set a special 'task' to create a Tangram picture. It was lovely to see this activity proved to be a challenge across each year group and a fun problem solving lesson using spatial awareness and patience!
Maths Week Ireland is an annual all-island festival of mathematics dedicated to raising awareness and appreciationof maths and numeracy among young people, parents and the wider community. It was great to see so many of our pupils enthusiastic to learn and achieve through our Maths Week challenge. Well done everyone!
